Fairview, Ab.

Happy autumn from the stunning, but historically dry farmlands of Fairview, Alberta! Joe and I busted up north of the mighty Peace River and across the majestic Dunvegan Bridge (probably in the top 3 bridges in all of Alberta) to build a late season playground. After a long day we peeled into Aurora’s Sports Bar as Game 7 of the ALCS (Baseball) between the heroic Toronto Blue Jays and the villainous Seattle Mariners was occurring. In the midst of a pretty exciting but tense playoff game Joe and I were served dinner. Me a reuben, known locally as “Mr. Reuben.” Joe a burger… the 97 burger. And what should happen when we finish chowing down. George Springer of the Jays belts a 3 run dinger putting the Blue Jays ahead 4-3 which ultimately was the final score to take Toronto to the World Series. Now I am not superstitious, but hey, it’s been over 30 years since the Jays took the pennant, and if I had to eat 4 more “Mr. Reubens” to get past the Dodgers in the next series, then I'll do my part…
